Apollo 12 Lunar Surface TV Camera

Stan Lebar, Program Manager for Westinghouse Apollo TV Cameras, spoke about the Apollo 12 Lunar Surface camera in a talk at the National Museum of Australia in March 2006.

Near the beginning of the Apollo 12 EVA 1 in November 1969, Astronaut Alan Bean inadvertently pointed the camera at the Sun, damaging the vidicon target. Stan briefly explains what happened.

Incidentally, the camera was the same Color Camera (mentioned in this video) which had been used in the CSM on Apollo 10, though it had been modified for use on the lunar surface on Apollo 12.
