OTC(A) Carnarvon Satellite Earth Station

First TV received from USA

Photos by
Guntis (“Gus”) Berzins

During testing of the OTC(A) Carnarvon Earth Station a TV test transmission from Brewster Flat, USA
was received during an unplanned opportunity on 5 December 1966.

Historically, this is probably the first TV transmission received in Australia from the USA,
although it was received unintentionally during testing of the OTC(A) Carnarvon Earth Station.
